Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed lower for the third straight session on Thursday, tracking weakness in global markets as investor sentiment remained under pressure due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.

Analysts also pointed out that the U.S. Federal Reserve’s decision to maintain interest rates added to the cautious mood in the market.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 81361.87 down by -82.79 points or by -0.1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24793.25 down by -18.8 points or by -0.08 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 81583.94 and intraday low of 81191.04 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24863.1 and intraday low of 24733.4

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1336.80,-2.59%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 899.70,-2.08%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1677.40,-1.95%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 837.50,-1.54%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2309.10,-1.28%), among others.
