Nifty, Sensex trade higher led by Adani Ports, Asian Paints

Indian benchmark equity indices opened higher on Monday, supported by mixed global cues.



The markets are expected to remain in a consolidation phase amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the impact of U.S. import tariffs, strained India-Pakistan relations, and global market trends. However, renewed buying interest from foreign institutional investors may provide some support.



Investors are also likely to stay focused on upcoming fourth-quarter earnings reports, including those from Mahindra & Mahindra and Indian Hotels Co, among others.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80729.71 up by 227.72 points or by 0.28 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24436.9 up by 90.2 points or by 0.37 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 80919.82 and intraday low of 80657.71 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24460.75 and intraday low of 24400.65



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1310.00,+3.39%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2465.40,+2.32%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1998.30,+2.11%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 237.75,+1.49%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3490.00,+1.34%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2065.00,-5.49%), State Bank of India (Rs. 787.45,-1.57%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3319.80,-0.29%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 348.20,-0.17%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1180.70,-0.12%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 27016.21 up by 341.21 points or by 1.28%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 404.90,+5.22%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 201.50,+4.43%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 322.80,+3.78%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 147.70,+3.03%), Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 613.35,+2.38%),.



Bankex index was at 62108.37 down by -600.86 points or by -0.96%. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2062.00,-5.63%), State Bank of India (Rs. 786.55,-1.69%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 17.57,-0.79%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1179.55,-0.22%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 851.15,-0.13%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3320 , shares advanced were 1910 while 1218 shares declined and 192 were unchanged
