The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing a Central Sector Umbrella scheme “Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY)”. The details of the current status of the PMKSY scheme in terms of implementation and outcomes, State/UT –wise are at Annexure.
PMKSY scheme aims towards the overall development of food processing sector in the country. Under PMKSY, financial assistance in the form of Grant-in-aid is provided to eligible Organisations/ Entities/ entrepreneurs for setting up food processing and preservation infrastructure, including creation of modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management from farm gate to retail outlet, reduce post-harvest losses and create higher value-addition, providing better returns to farmers, creation of employment opportunities, reducing wastage, increasing the processing level and enhancing the export of the processed foods thereby giving a big boost to the growth of food processing sector in the country.
The facilities created under the component schemes of PMKSY, help in preservation & processing of raw farm produce and transport of raw & finished products thereby reducing post-harvest losses of farm produce. As on 30.06.2025, under various component schemes of PMKSY, 1601 no. of projects have been approved, out of which 1133 projects have been completed benefitting 3415102 number of farmers in the country.
To enhance the effectiveness of PMKSY, regular monitoring by the Project Management Agencies (PMAs) engaged under component schemes of PMKSY and physical site inspection of projects are conducted by the Ministry from time to time. Further, if required, Ministry also takes up the matter with the concerned State/UTs Government and their agencies for effective implementation of the scheme.
