PM GatiShakti Evaluates Rs 13.59 Lakh cr worth of Infrastructure Projects

Since its launch in October 2021, the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (PMGS-NMP) has made significant progress in advancing coordinated infrastructure planning across the country. The initiative includes the development of a comprehensive geospatial platform, integration of georeferenced data, deployment of advanced planning tools, and extensive capacity building efforts.

A key feature of the initiative is the Network Planning Group (NPG) mechanism, which ensures integrated planning, multimodal connectivity, synchronization among departments, and last-mile linkages in infrastructure development. So far, 293 projects worth ?13.59 lakh crore have been evaluated under this framework.

As of now, 57 Central Ministries/Departments—including 8 related to infrastructure, 22 social, and 27 economic and other departments—have been onboarded onto the PMGS platform. Additionally, 36 States and Union Territories have joined the initiative. Over 1,700 data layers have been integrated into the system, including 969 from States/UTs and 731 from Central Ministries/Departments, supporting evidence-based planning and decision-making.

While the PM GatiShakti initiative does not have a dedicated fund allocation, the Ministry of Finance allocated ?5,000 crore in FY 2022-23 under Part-II of the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment, to support GatiShakti-related infrastructure projects.

The expansion of the initiative includes 36 new Ministries/Departments, bringing the total onboarded entities to 57, demonstrating the government’s whole-of-government approach to infrastructure development.

This information was provided by Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Shri Jitin Prasada, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
