The rupee extended its losing streak for the third consecutive session, slipping by 30 paise to settle at 86.73 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday. The decline was driven by a stronger dollar in global markets and rising crude oil prices.
According to forex traders, the rupee has now lost 69 paise over three sessions, amid risk-averse sentiment, sustained dollar demand from importers, and ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Additionally, lackluster performance in domestic equities and heightened unrest in the Middle East further weighed on the local currency.
