State-run energy major NTPC announced on Thursday that it has delivered five hydrogen fuel cell buses to SIDCO (Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation), an entity under the Ladakh administration, for commercial operations in the Union Territory.
The handover took place on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone as India's first commercial deployment of hydrogen fuel cell buses. According to the company, this initiative sets a global benchmark for green mobility by operating hydrogen-powered buses at the highest altitude in the world.
This development follows NTPC’s launch in November last year of the world’s first hydrogen fuelling station and a first-of-its-kind green hydrogen mobility station in Leh.
